Jintang Feiniu (金汤肥牛), or Beef in Golden Broth, has been my comfort for some time. Ordered it in and out. Learned to make it at home getting my hands on hard to find Hainan yellow lantern chili. Raiting at about 350,000 SHU on the Scoville scale, this pepper makes the broth fiery hot which I love. Acidic with pickled mustard greens and vinegar, funky with enoki and black fungus, aromatic with garlic, fresh chilies, cilantro, and scallions this soup is rich and silky with fatty slices of shaved beef and konjac bundles. Nothing warms up than this fiery and piping hot goodness. More excitement ahead as we got the seeds and will try growing the pepper ourselves.
