A black tailed deer (female) is framed between two yellow cedar, scanning the edge of the forest for cougars. At least that is what I think it's doing, it has spotted me, but ignores me, and there's nothing else of interest in the direction it's looking at. Its posture suggests it's scanning for threats.

I spotted it from the trail, and never came closer.
